Reading the shape of the novel
Notice the architecture before you dive in. Parts 1 and 6 mirror one another: Klara watching the world from the store window, then watching her memories from the Yard. Parts 2 and 3 build her faith; Part 4 tests it against Capaldi’s science; Part 5 is the crisis where both collide. Structure questions in the exam almost always reward students who can see this whole arc, where a moment sits, and what it answers or foreshadows.
